Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role involves working with the wider business to attract & recruit diverse talent. I manage a varied range of recruitment pipelines and guide candidates through the various stages of the application processes.
A big part of my role as an intern is to host assessment days and brief the candidates before hand.
I also deliver skills sessions and events to students from schools right through to universities & some partner organisations.
No 2 days are the same. I have had the opportunity to get involved with various other teams at PwC such as the Social Mobility team & the Inclusion Community & Wellbeing team on a range of projects.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given the same responsibility as any other member of the team such as the senior associates.
During my first month at the firm I was given the opportunity to help support and later lead a major project for the team. This progressed onto me being able to recourse myself onto other work streams that I found interesting and would help me develop my skill set & competencies.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have picked up many new tech skills such as using new recruitment platforms, alteryx, PwC's virtual park (a platform we use to deliver events).
I have also been able to develop my presentation skills. I am now much more confident at delivering sessions to a large audience.
I have had the opportunity to develop my leadership skills & bring my knowledge, innovation and insight to create distinctive value for our clients and the firm.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
When you join the firm you're given a buddy & a career coach to help guide you through your placement & teach you about the role and the business.
My support network was extended to the wider recruitment team. Everyone was always happy to help and just a message away.
Despite the pandemic and lockdown, I was able to work collaboratively with everyone regardless of location.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
PwC's culture is very relaxed and open. It isn't like what you would imagine when you hear "The Big 4"
PwC has a culture of encouragement & empowerment.
The firm nurtures all employees regardless of grade or experience, and I feel as though this was felt across all the businesses touchpoints with it's people.
I found the firm to be very inclusive & ambitious having employees at its core enabling a caring, agile & flexible approach to working.
