Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Over the course of the week, we heard talks from trainees, associates and partners about the work that they did and how Clyde’s sector focused approach worked in practice. We also had the opportunity to learn in great detail about the important of DEI to Clyde through a networking lunch where we could ask questions about the different initiatives and get feedback. The recruitment managers were on hand to make us feel at ease on the programme, reassuring us that we were not to be assessed until the assessment centre in the next week which allowed us to be present and focused on absorbing as much new information about Clyde as possible.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
I had a strong understanding of the potential roles available prior to attending the scheme but learning from a partner about the business strategy of Clyde and Clyde’s future in relation to topical issues such as ESG and technology was an invaluable experience. I also was not aware of the DEI groups which the lawyers can lead if they desire.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
This programme allowed me to develop my introspection. As someone who thinks deeply about my future, the Bright Futures Programme allowed me to recognise the importance of recognising one’s achievements but simultaneously identifying areas of weakness, considering manners in which to improve these areas. this was developed through the AC prep tasks during the week where we were tasked with discussing challenges or weaknesses that we had faced.

Would you recommend Clyde & Co LLP to a friend?
Yes
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Clyde & Co LLP
The main piece of advice would be to identify what makes Clyde unique and relate that back to why that interests you. For instance, Clyde’s expertise in the aviation industry and its reputation in the insurance industry could be something that interests you and something you desire to learn more about. I would also say resilience is very important given that there are multiple stages.
