Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

The insight programme involved sessions explaining the practice groups and sectors at DLA Piper and the importance of responsible business and diversity and inclusion to the firm. There was opportunities to talk to trainees at the firm and find out more about their experience. There were many group activities to get involved with, including an interactive legal case study. There was also an evening social which was a great way to get to know the other attendees.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

The programme gave huge insight into life at the firm, the work-life balance and what a typical day at DLA Piper looks like for a trainee. I was able to find out more about the practice groups and sectors and the culture of the firm.

I learnt a lot about the key skills that help in a legal career including teamwork, communication and attention to detail. I improved my networking skills as the scheme gave me the opportunity to meet a range of new people.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Everyone at the firm was really friendly and approachable, happy to answer any questions that I had. All employees spoke about the culture of the firm and had very positive experiences working there.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

I really enjoyed the insight programme, it was very informative and I loved being able to meet new people. It was great to find out more about life at DLA Piper.
