Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The week was predominantly made up of zoom presentations from people across the firm. From these session we were provided with insights into vary facets of DLA Piper including the matrix structure, it’s commitment to D&I and CSR as well as its coverage across the globe. Additionally, we also prepared a group presentation throughout the week and presented it on the final day.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very interesting. DLA Piper has impressive global coverage across a wide range of sectors and practice areas. The prospect of gaining insights into a variety of practice areas, as well as into different jurisdictions, is an exciting one.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
The main thing I gained from this internship was a deeper knowledge of the firm, it’s structure and it’s culture. The group presentation was a good opportunity to consolidate this information as it involved pitching DLA Piper to a prospective client. Further, the group element allowed me to improve my teamwork skills as well as my public/zoom speaking skills.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
It is hard to gauge from zoom but every person that addressed us seemed genuinely personable, passionate about their jobs and excited to welcome graduates to the firm.
