Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
We had sessions with different sectors within the bank to find out about what they do. We had some activities for us to see if this is something we would enjoy doing. There were also activities to help discover ourselves and what value we bring to deutsche bank. There was a lot of networking sessions over breakfast or coffee where we met with people in the organisation as well as getting to know each other on the programme.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was exciting as some of the roles I didn’t even know were available to us as graduates. The business has great values that align with mine so I can see myself working there in the long run. I can also say that I know exactly what I need to do to start a career at deutsche bank.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I definitely developed my interpersonal skills due to the constant networking. I learnt a lot about communication and body language in order to have the most effective conversations. I developed my team working skills when we did the projects in groups as well. I acquired work ethic skills on how to behave and present myself in a professional environment. Even more so, I grew my creativity through the projects we did.

Company Culture

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight
4/5
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
It was a relaxed and comfortable environment. Everyone genuinely seemed happy to be there. It’s a very inclusive atmosphere with many resources allocated to promote diversity. It’s a great learning environment as it allows people to join without having studied finance or economics. They are very friendly and easy to talk to as well. I reached out a lot of times with questions and they were happy to answer and keep contact even after the programme.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I absolutely loved it. I had very little expectations for what it would be because I had never been to one nor did I know that spring insight programmes were a thing, but as soon as I joined it I can definitely say it was beyond my expectations. I would even go as far as saying it’s life changing because I was exposed to opportunities that I didn’t know was possible for me. I didn’t think I would work in the UK after my course, let alone deutsche bank.

Would you recommend Deutsche Bank to a friend?
Yes
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deutsche Bank
I would say definitely do your research. They provide a lot of support for placement years and career development but you have to be proactive. You have to look for opportunities every chance you get. It is located in a small town so if you’re looking to live in a big city then it’s not the best place to go. It’s extremely diverse so you’ll most definitely find your representatives there. Participate in everything.
