Software Engineering Intern Review

I was tasked with researching and developing a solution to some inefficiencies in an internal system. Along with this, I was expected to regularly meet with project stakeholders to provide updates and get guidance.

Yes, I was given a lot of responsibility during the internship. From the beginning, I had the option to choose which project I wanted to take on, from a list, many of which would have a significant impact on the business. And during the project, all the key decisions were made by myself with the support of my team.

Yes, I learned new data analysis techniques and deepened my understanding of machine learning. Additionally, I refined my teamwork and communication skills as I was working in a team to complete this project. Overall, I now have a better understanding of how technology is used in the world of finance.

There was a great deal of support and guidance during the internship. For my project, I had the ability to request help from anyone from my team and I frequently requested help from those in different business areas, all of which were always happy to help. On top of this, I had regular check-ins with my mentor and a member of HR to support with anything not directly related to my work.

Overall it is a very pleasant environment to work in as you are surrounded by intelligent, friendly people who are always willing to help. There are regular large company events and smaller team-specific events that create a nice atmosphere to be in.

I thoroughly enjoyed my internship and it exceeded my expectations. I was able to do meaningful work and learn new skills, along with being able to network with the other interns through socials and workshops.
