Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
On a day to day basis I prepare communications to be sent out, answer common HR based questions, make sure employees have easy to access resources, and analyse and aggregate data. What I do every day changes depending on when in the quarter we are or what events we have going on but roughly follows the pattern mentioned above.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was involved in man important projects and given the opportunity to innovate and suggest new ideas to develop solutions even further. I was even given responsibility to act as a point of a contact for one of our business groups to answer their HR queries which is more than I anticipated I would be responsible for.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have developed my excel skills using pivots and short cuts within excel to speed up the process I use. I have also developed my communication and creativity skills be preparing employee communications regularly and ensuring they are both interesting to read and attention to detail is paramount.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
When I first started my internship I had a month handover period with the previous intern in which we had multiple calls a day to handover tasks and ask questions. I also had regular meetings with a buddy throughout the year where I could ask questions and clarify situations I was unsure of. I would definitely say I have felt supported by my team throughout this placement, especially as being at home for the whole year meant I was unable to see any of them in person.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
As a part of my internship I was encouraged to get involved with site wide committees such as our volunteering committee or our STEM outreach team. This was a great way to get to know other people at the company and break up my day to day work. I would highly recommend this to anyone else doing an internship with Intel. Also there are around 50 interns who have regular socials so you can get to know other people in your peer group.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I have really enjoyed my internship and am gutted to be having to finish it now, I would have liked to have been able to meet more people in person and actually go into the office but in 2020 that just wasn't an option. All things considered I've had an amazing year and got involved with so many exciting opportunities. I would love to go back but we don't usually hire back into HR in the UK unfortunately.

What advice would you give to others applying to Intel Corporation
Just to be yourself and do your research into the company and its culture to see if that is a good fit with you. Also if you do get an opportunity to join Intel make the most of it and join as many committees as possible within your role.
