Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The internship gave insight into DLA Piper's business and culture. The mornings mainly involved talks with different members of the firm, from the Global CEO to current trainees. The majority of the afternoons involved working in a group with other interns from the office we had applied to. This work involved preparing a pitch presentation to partners on the final day of the internship. Assessment also included a written task.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
The internship provided a great insight into DLA as a business and the type of work trainees do. Grad recruitment did a really good job at getting a variety of speakers to discuss their work, clients they deal with and the different roles within the firm.

The group work provided the opportunity to develop skills such as teamwork, research and presentation skills. In general, the scheme has developed my ability to virtually engage with others.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Amazing! Everyone is really happy to help and answer your questions, both about their work and personal experiences. It's clear the firm values wellbeing, diversity and inclusion and is dedicated to its pro bono work. DLA really came across as being a collaborative, supportive working environment but also really social and inclusive, with lots of employee networks to get involved in.
