Work Experience Review

Involved researching Matalan’s current well-being offer and evaluate this against other retailers, giving recommendations of how they can improve for their colleagues. A survey was given to colleagues of Matalan, which it was anonymously answered, and the findings and recommendations for improvements by us were presented to the HR team.

Yes, as during my placement it was our responsibility to find information that Matalan may not know about. For example, how their colleagues really feel about how their job affects their mental wellbeing. This made us responsible to make Matalan’s HR team and well-being team aware of the problems.

I developed my existing skills including public speaking, researching, critical thinking, and team work.

A lot of support was there during my placement, our advisor made it comfortable for us to ask any questions we had and whatever we needed she was there for us. Really great support from Matalan.

Although we were in the head office of Matalan, we didn’t see many people apart from people in the canteen and the hallways but it seemed like a great atmosphere they have there. All chatty and happy people.

I really enjoyed my placement because it gave me a view of what it was like in an environment and atmosphere that I am not familiar with. I feel as though it helped me developed my existing experiences and pushed me towards my life goal career.
