Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Providing tailored actuarial services to defined benefit pension schemes across the UK to help Trustees make better decisions.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was responsible for ensuring the progression of transfer values, factor reviews and triennial valuations across multiple clients, which will be provided to the Trustees.

The early careers team are very organised and ensured we all received proper training. My manager was always keen to support me when needed.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Aon has a strong culture of teamwork and unity which I could see immediately. The office can be quiet on some days however, which can limit the development of soft and technical skills some times.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I immediately felt welcomed by my manager and client teams, who treated me like any other colleague. I have learned far more than I thought I could, and so I very much enjoyed this year with Aon.
