Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Each day involved interactive and engaging talks from lawyers and people at the firm. These ranged from CSR and diversity initiatives the firm is engaging with to talks from senior partners and lawyers. We had the opportunity to ask questions in each session and the week ended with a comprehensive and stimulating group project.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was fantastic to learn about the firm and this was covered extensively - right through talks from the global CEO all the way to the group project. It was great to hear from trainees as part of the trainee panel too, as this have a great insight into potential roles and opportunities.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have developed my team working and presentation skills through working with my team on the group task. Despite having a few days to complete the task, it was great to develop interpersonal skills but also my commercial understanding of the firm through this as well.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Incredibly welcoming and friendly. This was from all people at the firm, from senior figures down to more junior lawyers and business services personnel. Everyone made me feel included and a valued member of the programme!

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DLA Piper
Be yourself and don't be afraid to stand out and be bold in your answers. As a firm they are very inclusive and diverse and all opinions and insights are welcomed. Another tip would be to truly understand the international nature of the firm, as this is at the heart of its ethos.
