Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Working within sales and trading, you cannot engage in actual trading of any sort. However, at Scotiabank, I felt I could provide a real value add to my respective team at the time through helping build various models or provide research into a specific area and have the opportunity to present this. I also got to host morning call and provide market updates to my team every morning before markets open, which was really good exposure.

Excellent! We were given access to a wealth of materials throughout the internship and I really felt everyone at all levels, were approachable and would take the time to explain things to me and answer my questions.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Amazing, everyone was very friendly and inclusive. Even before starting the internship, HR ensured that all the interns felt like they knew each other well enough for we began. Throughout rotating across each desk, we were also paired up with a mentor who we could go to to ask any questions and they regularly checked in with us to see how we were getting on throughout the rotation.

I loved it. It totally exceeded my expectations and I would recommend a Summer Internship at Scotiabank to anyone is keen to learn about a wide variety of different desks as well as be pushed to achieve your potential everyday!
