Investment Consulting - Portfolio Risk Review

The role involves the implementation and management of LDI portfolios. Day-to-day you are monitoring portfolios, using Excel to create new hedges and instructing trades to be made. You also carry out various calculations and help with performance attribution calculations. Also responsible for helping to keep an audit trail of the work that has been done.

I was given an adequate amount of responsibility. After I had been shown the processes carried out within portfolio risk, I was trusted to carry out tasks on my own with little supervision.

Developed my ability to use Excel, particularly in using the INDEX and MATCH functions. Also, as part of the wider intern project, developed my ability to work with others and present to an audience.

I was happy with the support and guidance I received during the internship. All members of my team were very approachable and happy to help. I was also able to schedule meetings with colleagues in different teams and business areas in order to develop my wider understanding of the business.

In my team and business area, the culture and general atmosphere was great. It was a very social and inclusive environment, and a genuinely enjoyable place to work.
