Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role is to provide assurance to the bank by verifying the integrity of the controls set by the bank to mitigate risk. This often leads to testing the design and operating effectiveness of each control and reporting any findings to the associated stakeholder, which then needs to be validated and reconciled.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes I was responsible for setting up a lot of the groundwork used in stakeholder meetings, without this, stakeholder meetings would be unstructured.

I was extremely well support, everyone I spoke to whether higher management or not was more than happy to take the time out of their day to sit down and answer any questions I had about the job or my career in general.
