Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
SWE at Cisco Ensoft. In office role, although a lot of the office only comes in 2/3 days a week. I worked on some internal tooling and testing for it, and creating a testing framework for similar tooling.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
n/a, this was a short internship, not a business insight scheme.

Some interesting use of python. Useful to experience software engineering in a quite different environment compared to places I've worked before.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Quite relaxed. Almost all employees were oxbridge grads, typically from non-cs backgrounds, so quite a unique atmosphere.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
Quite enjoyable, although the initial task was a bit too simple and so only took a day, and suggested extensions took another day. I found other tasks to work on after that, but a more complex project with wider scope or greater technical difficultly would have been preferable.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cisco
For this microinternship scheme, previous swe experience seems to be heavily selected for. For other roles, they seem much more willing to take on people without much previous experience, and seem to be quite good at training people.
