Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I write software for the Buyer Initiated Payments department. This involves using kotlin and springboot to write a backend API and using react to create a front end. We typically have weekly meetings with the product owner to refine the specification and ask questions. We also write tests for both parts of the code base
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, we were in a team of 3 which meant there was plenty of work to be done and lots of responsibility. Frequently I was able to make major design based decisions and they allowed me to take on this responsibility.

A lot! The BIP team have been great at helping out, even when they are busy with their own projects. We were also provided with a skeleton code to start with which helped us massively in writing new tests.

Culture was very good! Not perfect but really good compared to most other companies, particularly on team work!
