Work Experience Employee Review

On a day-to-day basis, employees from TikTok would come in and speak to us about TikTok as a company and the different aspects of it. We would learn a lot about the various departments and employee resource groups as well as crucial life skills to utilise in the workplace. On days with specific departments, we would shadow the employees that worked there and complete tasks that linked to and helped the departments' primary aims.

It helped me to understand and decide on which direction to go in to achieve my desired line of work in the future. Experiencing the corporate side of TikTok was very interesting and helped me to comprehend the way that global creative technology companies function.

I have developed many existing skills such as public speaking and how to work most efficiently in a team. I believe my public speaking is now more concise yet still detailed and thorough. I am also more confident in delivering and presenting my own ideas to a room of people. My teamwork skills have been furthered due to the series of activities we did in groups. I have also learnt to network, both outside and at TikTok because of workshops that we did.

Everyone at TikTok was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Each employee was eager to talk to us about their career path, their experience in their role at TikTok and how the company catered to them to help overcome and challenges. I would say the general atmosphere was lively and quite fast-paced, however there was always someone willing to help with any issues.

I enjoyed the insight a lot because it helped me to decide where I saw myself in the future as well as to meet like-minded people in the same age group as me. I think it was a very exciting experience.
