TikTok LIVE Operations Intern Review

My role involves researching developing go-to markets for product features across the EU market and organising cross-functional collaboration with overseas teams, but also monitoring the LIVE ecosystem and handling user management projects. On a day-to-day basis, I support my colleagues on ongoing GTMs; that can mean shooting TikTok videos, creating in-app banners, and sending out push notifications to TikTok users!

Yes - I was treated with the expectation of handling the same level of projects regular colleagues were partaking in, while receiving extra support and a little leeway as an intern; peers were very helpful in terms of advising me based off their extensive experience and entire teams were available to mentor my internship process.

Yes! In terms of skills, the ability to compartmentalise and the skill of multi-tasking have been my biggest takeaways. My role involves a little bit of everything in my team, and to best support all my colleagues, switching between projects and tasks is a skill I've developed! I’ve also learnt new softwares and design tools, improved on my creative skills, and developed my problem-solving abilities.

The guidance available at TikTok has been top-notch; we had multiple training sessions that involved all interns, a buddy-programme that gave you a knowledgeable friend to talk to about your experience, and each department also took into stride teaching necessary skills at the beginning of the internship. In my personal experience, my manager and team often went out of their way to ensure I was well-equipped and receiving support when necessary.

Fast-paced and fun; people were approachable and the general atmosphere was cheerful! The company’s culture felt very liberal and candid, and they actively pushed diversity and transparency. It is an environment that embraces learning and growing together.

It was incredibly enjoyable, I was learning while having fun! The combination of an open environment and the approachability of everyone in my department has led to some genuine life lessons and helpful insights.
