Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Sustainability intern at PwC. This entailed working across three rotations over the course of 4 weeks. We were trained on the LoS we joined (Risk) and the Sustainability Enterprise team. Networking and upskilling is encouraged, with the opportunity to meet and network with all members of the team at any level of seniority. There is social and extra-curricular opportunities, extra training available and you get out of it what you put in. There is the opportunity to take on extra work depending on your capacity and interests.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, although this depends on the rotations and teams you join, you are given substantial responsibility during the internship. There is the opportunity to have a material impact on the engagements you work on, and you can really push yourself to develop skills and learn new ones. You are expected to make positive contributions both to the team and the work that you are involved in.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I learnt so much during my internship. I developed my skills with regards to professional communication, organisation, time-management and networking. I also developed new skills relating to the technical subject area within sustainability, across my rotations and through taking on extra work. This was especially interesting for me by having exposure to financial services clients.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to PwC
The application process is thorough, but enjoyable. If you are keen on joining the firm, make sure you do your research on the company, PwC's values and the professional framework. For the interviews, really consider why you want to work at PwC and in that Line of Service. For the assessment centre and psychometric tests make sure you do practice interviews and assessments. Don't lose faith if you are unsuccessful the first time round, as I have applied to PwC on more than one occasion. When the time is right and you're ready to come and work here, your application process should go smoothly. The student recruitment team is super helpful and on hand to answer any queries or issues that you have during the process.
