Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Day-to-day I was working as part of a team, completing tasks where possible and being present in meetings. I went to client site multiple times throughout the 4 weeks where I got to know directors and partners assigned to the engagement. I also completed an intern specific project whereby we worked with a social enterprise charity and fed back our findings to them in the final week.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
There was lots of opportunity to learn about the business especially the line of service that I was in Audit. This is both whilst and within my engagement team as well as with people generally around the office, these could be scheduled as 'coffee catch ups' and were the most practical way to learn more about career progression as well as the company and its values.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have developed my skills in Excel massively, specifically using the add-on Datasnipper. I also learnt how to use the software Aura, which I used every day for the better part of the 4 weeks. I developed my presentation skills and there was lots of opportunity to develop networking skills the whole way through the internship.

Company Culture
How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture is one of the best aspects of the job and the firm itself. You hear this from almost everyone you speak to (permanent employee). The general atmosphere in the Bristol office cannot be faulted, I have heard that the Bristol site is one of the friendliest in the country. It is easy to speak to employees that are levels above your own.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I massively enjoyed the internship, it was well structured and has provided me with a good idea of what a career in Audit would actually be like. I felt really lucky to be given lots of work, even though I felt like I had been thrown in the deep end at points. My team were always there to answer my questions.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC
My main piece of advice would be to throw yourself into the 4 weeks. To speak to as many people as possible and ask every question you have, everyone is willing to help and understand that you are an intern. Be friendly and network.
