Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I was part of the cloud engineering team, developing, maintaining and generally looking after the cloud infrastructure employed by the mortgages platform and its applications.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, I was given the freedom of ownership of multiple new performance monitoring applications that gave us the insight needed to properly manage our cloud infrastructure, including diagnosing issues and watching out for strange behaviour

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes! Cloud Engineering, Agile Development, Scripting, Personal and Social Improvements etc!!!
They are all put to the test at LBG, and I feel much more confident to get into the industry following my year at LBG

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I recieived lots of guidance, my colleagues are amazing and always there to support me if I was stuck. They were very happy to let me get on with my work and not feel a need to shadow my every move, but never forgot that I am a student and would leap at the chance to help me if I needed it

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Amazing. I have never been happier in a job. Coming from a few toxic part-time jobs, LBG was fantastic and I WILL be going back to work there!

This year was invaluable. It has progressed my career to no end. I started with 0 experience and left with life long friends, confidence and a job offer!
