Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My role involves dealing with clients and candidate. On a daily basis, I would keep in contact with both clients and candidates to understand their current needs. On the candidate side, it would be understand their working requirements. On the client side, it would understanding their business growth and plans for recruitment. My daily role included cold calling companies to gain business and begin building relationships. I would utilize my candidates for marketing.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given the responsibility to run my own business essentially. I recruited into temporary and contract business support and was allowed to input my own initiative in commercially building this desk. I was also given an extra responsibility to be a talent scout, this involves helping attract graduate for their graduate intake scheme. I become a talent scout in April 2023 and I work alongside the talent acquisition team.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have learnt how to manage my time as it is important to keep a balance between client and candidates in a 360 role. I have also learnt resilience through difficult conversations with candidates and clients. I have learnt how to communicate with a diverse range of people to understand their unique needs and adopt my way of thinking towards this.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I have supportive and very experienced consultants surrounding me that enable me to lean of them for support and guidance. I also have an supportive manager who could guide me with any difficult situations. At the start of the internship, I went through intensive training which equipped me with a wealth of knowledge to implement on my desk. Also, I have been given refresher and new training modules through my internships to support me.
