Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

A week of insights into global banking and markets at HSBC. Included hours of networking with junior and senior members, sales and trading games, banking case studies and work shadowing off cycle interns on the trading floor.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

It was very clearly presented, in a manner which is easy to understand for someone with no previous experience or training in global banking and markets.

Developed my networking skills with interns and staff, which helped me in the interview process for the internship role, but also grew my network amongst other like-minded individuals from other universities.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

A great company culture with emphasis on working together to achieve success. A positive atmosphere which doesn't look down on failure, but rather teaches and inspires to improve yourself within the workplace. Great facilities such as a gym for staff wellbeing too.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

I enjoyed it very much. Tours of the trading floor, which was ultimately a division I wanted to go into, was very insightful. Seeing the various facilities such as the gym and the new innovation room.
