Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My project involves evaluating the pros and cons of switching the proxy voting vendor of Citi. So far I have been doing some data analytical work in an Excel. I'm also responsible for preparing and uploading relevant materials to internal systems to keep the book of work on track.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I think I have been given a reasonable amount of responsibilities during my internship. My major responsibility is to assist with the proxy voting project. Moreover, I also get to shadow other colleagues with their work. The entire process was pretty fulfilling.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I gain a lot of new knowledge in custody, especially in the proxy voting space. My communication skills are also greatly enhanced, since this is my first internship experience in the UK. I also further developed my data analytical skills, and become more proficient in Excel.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received a lot of support during my internship. Everyone has been so nice to me. Whenever I have industrial-related questions, I can always ask my mentors and they are always happy to provide some guidance. Moreover, they encourage me to have coffee chat with other colleagues so that I could gain a holistic understanding of the asset servicing field.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Citi has a very nice company culture. Everyone is warm and welcome, and is open to have coffee chat with new joiners. There's not much hierarchy within the company. Even the MD are very nice.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoy it. This could be the best internship experience that I have so far. I get to learn new things and meet new people. The entire cohort of interns are also friendly. I think so far things are going well.

Get exposed to as much market news as possible. Be prepared for the interviews. Try to network with some current employees to learn more about the company.
