Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
During the placement, we were able to assist trainees and our supervisors with work within their offices. This could range from reviewing and editing contracts - to even making PowerPoint presentations for the teams. We would also have seminars with the teams surrounding updates and be able to learn more about the practices first hand.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was really exciting; the teams were just as motivated and ready to share their experiences as we were all ready to learn! One main takeaway is that you will get out as much as you put in within the CMS Academy :)

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
New skills that I learned were definitely how the law works practically rather than how it is taught in University. The Internship also showed the importance of Business within law and how client relationships are pivotal in everything that a solicitor does.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
During my time within the office it was nice to see the amount of inclusion within the teams - with the firms key push on TTA&I it was noticeable that this is driven throughout each office that I had the chance to work in.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I could not have been happier with the insight I got within the firm! Especially with 2 weeks within the Scottish Office and a week within the London office for the Business of Law week,

Be yourself.
It is as simple as that. I went in with no expectations and really wanted to see if I would fit in and enjoy the type of work that the firm carried out and I was so fulfilled by the end of my time in the offices.
