Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Each day was filled with variety. I attended multiple informative presentations that provided insight into the various practice areas at Latham. I was able to ask questions to further my understanding. I also completed two memorandum tasks which allowed me to engage in legal research to understand the typical tasks of a trainee lawyer.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
The scheme was throughly enjoyable and extremely informative. It also provided really good insight into the way that a law firm operates as a business itself. Understanding the different roles available enabled me to understand the distinction between the type of work trainees & associates complete. Aswell as how job descriptions change with seniority.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
During my two weeks, I was able to build connections across the firm. The research tasks required me to exercise attention to detail, effective communication and proactivity. I was able to use a range of sources including Practical Law and Lexology to complete my legal research.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture was extremely inviting and welcoming. Each individual was very understanding and willing to provide advice, tips and guidance. Senior associates and partners are very approachable and eager to see you succeed. It was a thoroughly enjoyable scheme, with people that made it even better!

I loved the scheme and the insight it provided to Latham. I was particularly impressed my the firms diversity and affinity groups.
