Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Sat in Corporate and Litigation with a different supervisor. My day-to-day involved completing tasks set by supervisor specific to my practice. For instance, in Corporate, I produced a bible for a recent transaction. The main focus of each day was completing my research tasks, and acting on the feedback that was given midweek. Elsewhere, I attended practice overviews, specific deal case studies, affinity group talks, and organised chats with Latham associates to find out more about the firm
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
There was a lot of information to take in, but the talks were structured well, and I never felt overwhelmed.
It was refreshing and reassuring especially to learn about the affinity groups and how a trainee could participate.
The lack of hierarchy made learning about the business and potential roles much easier.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Time management and organisation: rescheduling meetings, navigating clashes, and being flexible with timing
Attention to detail: it was easy to focus on the substance of the research task, but I had to pay particular attention to making sure the task was free of typos etc, as if it was a piece of work being sent to a client.
Networking: reaching out to Latham lawyers without being intimidated to learn more about the firm.
