Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Reporting to my line manager within the structural engineering department for things to work on and designing structural aspects of different projects to Eurocodes, aided by a recent graduate 'buddy' assigned to me after I accepted my internship offer.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
The amount of responsibility placed on me increased throughout my 6 weeks as I needed to be familiar with the appropriate steps to design members of structures to the standard required for them to actually be approved and built.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have developed existing skills and seen how what I have learned at university having been specialised in Civil Engineering for a year relates to Structural Engineering in the real world. Some topics I have been introduced to at university have also been explained to me in more depth here, as well as their impact on structural design which sets me up well for the final year of my integrated masters.
