Working on tunnel assessment and writing reports which are issued for further review by either the client or contractor.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, throughout my placement I have been given a variety of roles that have ramped up in responsibility as I have become more confident in my abilities.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
My communication and technical skills have increased dramatically throughout my placement, due to being exposed to a variety of projects, clients and colleagues. I have developed many skills that are extremely useful throughout industry, that I wouldn't have learnt doing another year in university.

I have been working very closely throughout my placement with one colleague, who has taught be extremely well. They are very knowledgeable about the role and I have learnt a lot from them.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I have really enjoyed working with a variety of people on different projects, whilst exposing myself to the world of industry. The knowledge I have learnt this year is extremely valuable and I am very happy that I applied for this year. Also you get paid :)

Be open minded with the role you are applying for. There are plenty of opportunities to work with other disciplines and you can apply to move departments if that suits you better.
