Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Working closely with area managers and the education team, based across the country, to enable our beauty advisors to achieve their retail objectives. The day to day roles are highly varied, from producing spreadsheets to track retail to working on an event meeting customers and growing brand awareness.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a high degree of responsibility, regularly managing my own projects, controlling budgets and leading initiatives. I was given the freedom to work autonomously but had regular catch ups with my manager so I felt supported throughout. At points this felt overwhelming but nothing that the team weren’t ready to support with.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
L’Oreal is a relaxed but fast paced place to work. From day one everyone was really smiley and willing to help out. The teams operate at a fast pace to match the retail environment which can often leave you feeling rushed and not necessarily able to execute plans to the highest level. Over the year I learnt to adapt to this and how to prioritise work to match the pace.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoyed the placement and have taken a lot away from my year. There were moments were it felt a bit hectic and slightly like I was in over my head, but with so many placement students and really supportive team members, there was always someone to turn to. L’Oréal also host lots of events so you can have fun beyond the desk as well.
