Spring into Quant Finance Review

Five days of activities. Including talks from the CEO and heads of department, roundtables and discussion panels with researchers, interactive workshops themed around statistics, machine learning, programming and finance, as well as plenty of networking opportunities with other attendees through fun activities and meals. The event was held at a 5* hotel in the south of France, all expenses were accounted for as well as an additional £750 stipend. Participation fast tracks to an internship.

There was a lot of useful information about G-Research provided during the week. Particularly with regards to working at the company in future. I learned a lot about doing a potential internship next year and how that can lead to a full time role at G-Research.

Lots of great learning opportunities. You learn a lot about the company and what sort of work is carried out at G-Research which is not clear from the outside. Regular discussions with employees in a range of rolls from different backgrounds was extremely valuable and provided great insight into what it is like to work there. The workshops and talks were incredibly interesting and engaging, and I felt I came away with a good understanding of G-Research and quantitative finance.

Company culture is overall good, everyone was very friendly and easy to talk to. I spoke to a lot of members of the research team who seemed to have a great work life balance and would regularly engage in after work activities with other employees. Within the research team there is a slight gender imbalance, but I think the company is aware of this and is taking steps to improve it in future which is excellent.

Enjoyment of the insight was very high. I think the experience here far surpasses any other quantitative finance insight week held by other companies. An excellent location, everything was organised extremely well, the activities planned were engaging and interesting, and the people were very accommodating. It surpassed the experience promised.
