Visual Merchandising Intern Review

This Visual Merchandising role largely supports the design and production of temporary promotional units found in store (POS). Day to day, you support the management of suppliers to ensure the vision of the wider marketing team is met; accurately representing the wider media campaign in store through the POS you create. This role will require you to manage the marketing team's desires while adhering to various retailer guidelines and requests.

I admire the level of responsibility I have been given as an Intern. This role required me to manage 7 retailer accounts, ensuring all of their promotional merchandising requests were met throughout the year. From the first day I was responsible for a number of projects which encouraged me to grow confidence and authority in my role. As the internship progressed, I found myself working similarly to senior managers.

Throughout this internship I have developed a number of role specific software abilities. In addition, the role has also allowed me to utilise my Adobe software skills; creating mock ups and concept boards to support the work of our creative agency. I have also felt a significant development in my self-confidence through the use of succinct visual, verbal and written communication. My time management and organisational skills have also progressed.

I had continual guidance from my line manager. I never felt as if I could not ask questions. The culture throughout the wider team was similar. Everyone is always happy to help and even offer additional projects. I felt guided but also trusted within my role and team.

The company culture is very supportive and welcoming. L'Oreal is full of confident people who work hard in a face paced environment. The fast paced nature of the company can feel intimating at first but if you stay committed to your role and seeing through projects you feel truly rewarded and others will be the first to celebrate this. The company allows you to feel part of a high spirited team.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at L'Oreal. The role has exceeded my expectations, as I have been given the opportunity to develop my creative story telling abilities and show up for consumers in the POS I have been producing. I have enjoyed feeling a part of a supportive and positive community. The fast paced, non-stop environment has challenged me and I am grateful even for the harder moments.
