PR and Communications Review

My role included daily insights into the beauty market and feeding this back to all the teams within the division, as well as continuous data pulling and analysis for various different teams and individuals within the business. Internally I had to monitor and assist with relationships and communications between all the teams. Externally, there was a focus on trade and agency relationships, which meant I was often in charge of managing these communications.

Yes, I was often tasked with managing my own projects and pieces of work. I also often had to help upskill others and assist others with divisional tasks. As my placement continued I also gained more confidence in my role which meant I felt more confident taking on bigger tasks and offering my opinion to important decisions within the team.

This placement definitely helped me with prioritisation and learning how to manage my time effectively. It also taught me a lot about communication and how to ensure effective work whilst maintaining good relationships with those around you. It has also helped me to develop my data analysis and written skills.

My team and other members of staff around me were very supportive. They had no problem with me asking as many questions as I needed, the only element which was a bit harder to navigate was the initial training given regarding many of the platforms/ processes within the business. However, after practice and time these became much easier to understand and and figure out individually.

Definitely a bit focus on networking and knowing other people, so it is important to try and put yourself out there and talk to as many people as you can.

I definitely enjoyed my placement, it has taught me a lot about the world of work and has opened my eyes to opportunities that may arise in the future. Glad I completed the placement as I think it will help me a lot and has left me feeling better prepared for working life after university.
