Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My work mainly involved assisting a Project Manager with their day-to-day tasks, including taking minutes, producing official documents, communicating with contractors, document distribution, etc. I also worked across other projects, working with design managers and engineering managers, to help them with their roles.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was able to work independently on some aspects of my job, and given the responsibility to communicate with others and compile comments/reviews to be distributed.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

This placement has helped me to develop my communication skills and technical knowledge of working in construction as a Project Manager. It has also improved my wider knowledge of the construction industry, such as contract management and health & safety.

I was able to ask for support and guidance whenever I needed it. The team was very supportive in getting me the opportunities and work that I wanted to do.
