Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Day to day I did a variety of tasks from attending training, to reading insurance policies, providing research and supporting on presentations the team were working on. I also supported on an article relating to Climate Change which was very interesting.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very exciting and confirmed to me that law is the career I was to pursue and that I am definitely interested in the more contentious side of the work.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Yes I learnt a great deal of practical law, I was able to practice my memo drafting as well as learn more about how insurance law operates. I also learnt a great deal about how Bermuda Form works and how specific clauses impact the policy. I grappled with New York substantive law and how that is interpreted during a London seat of arbitration.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture is very strong at Clyde & Co. There is a big focus on social impact and pro bono work as well as combating Climate Change. Furthermore there is a strong sense of comradery across the teams and the 'Work as One' value really shines through.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I really enjoyed participating in the Vacation Scheme, I thought it was a fantastic way to get to know the firm and understand the work that they do. I got some great experience and hope I can continue to work there in the future.
