Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Working in the Ecom-Supply chain team, I managed the back office tasks for the Amazon account including order processing, portfolio management, disputing shortages and reporting on service level, across multiple divisions. Many of these tasks involved working with team such as commercial, marketing and finance. In addition, I worked on projects to help improve efficiencies both within my role and within the wider business.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, more than i would have imagined. Once fully trained, I had full responsibility from an order processing side. There were parts of the job that had potential to cause significant financial and workload impact if done wrong. However there was enough support to ease the pressure.

Support and Guidance

I received a lot of support especially in my transition from 1 role to another. I had frequent catch ups with my new and old manager until i was settles and also check in on from more senior managers in the team. I received lots of guidance from wider members of the team and learned to make use of the strengths and variety of knowledge that each person brought.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The whole company has an extremely welcoming and supportive culture, especially in Trafford. For the most part, my colleges all shared the same love for their jobs and when in peak periods, managers were always understanding and helpful with workload.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoyed my internship. I was lucky to see multiple divisions of customer supply chain and the warehouse which has shown me lots of possible career paths. There was a variety of social activates I got to attend over the year, including some trips to London, however it did occasionally feel isolated from some of the events/celebrations in Hammersmith.
