Process leaders undertake and direct production activities and operations, and deliver against core key performance indicators (KPIs). They effectively lead and manage large teams, providing technical or specialist input and direction to their own teams and to others.

Knowledge
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of production and manufacturing principles, including planning, resource procurement, and operational efficiency.
- Skilled in budgeting, cost control, and lean practices to drive continuous improvement and quality assurance.
- Knowledge will encompass health, safety, environmental and legislative compliance, alongside sustainable practices.
- Apply project management, data analysis, and problem-solving techniques.
- Use performance and people management theories to motivate teams.
- Align team activities with organisational goals.
- Leverage individual strengths and manage stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation, and influence.
- Support data-driven decisions and strategic change.

Entry requirements
- Already hold a Level 3 process technician or manufacturing qualification, or have equivalent relevant experience.
- Typically hold a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths prior to taking end-point assessment.
Progression routes
Key information
- Level (At end of programme): Level 4
- Maximum Duration: 18 months
- Available Funding: £11,000 funding band maximum available through the Apprenticeship Levy. Employers that do not pay the Levy will fund 5% of the funding band maximum.
