We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an Operations Graduate to join Amey Complex Facilities Division.

The salary is £28,500 per annum

Location: 71 Venture House, Gate D Fentham Road, Birmingham, B23 6AL

Working Hours: 37.5 hours Monday to Friday

This graduate role is designed for someone looking to build a career in Facilities Management, with a technical focus on mechanical and electrical assets and Lifecycle Asset Management, working predominantly on the Birmingham account.

The role offers a structured learning pathway, combining on-the-job experience with formal qualifications, and is ideal for someone with strong motivation, curiosity, and a willingness to learn, even if they don’t yet have all the technical knowledge.

Key Learning & Responsibilities

Working with the Lifecycle Manager

  • An understanding of Lifecycle and Asset Management principles and how these link to financial models and investment planning
  • Skills in identifying and prioritising lifecycle risk, with a focus on Mechanical & Electrical assets
  • Experience building short-, medium- and long‑term lifecycle plans
  • Insight into how asset condition, risk, and funding decisions are balanced in practice

Working with the Hard Services Manager

  • FM contracts and statutory compliance requirements
  • Planned Maintenance regimes, and how they align with lifecycle strategies
  • Reactive repairs, including helpdesk data and trend analysis
  • The day‑to‑day operational realities of managing technical FM services

How the Role Will Work

Time will initially be split between:

  • Lifecycle Management
  • Hard Services / FM Operations

Learning & Development Commitment

Over a 2–3 year period, the role includes structured academic and professional development, such as:

  • City & Guilds Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (specific level, scope, and timing to be agreed based on the individual)
  • Asset Manager Level 4 Apprenticeship (approximately 18 months)

What you will bring:

  • A minimum 2:2 degree in technical, engineering, FM, or related fields
  • Has a clear interest in Facilities Management, particularly Lifecycle and Asset Management from a technical (M&E) perspective
  • Is keen to learn, asks questions, and takes ownership of their development
  • Is organised, analytical, and comfortable working with data and plans
  • Brings the right attitude and approach
