Key Information

  • Salary: £19,000
  • GCSE Requirements: 5x GCSEs (or equivalent). Grades must be A*-C / 9-4 INCLUDING math, English and a STEM subject
  • A-Level Requirements: 96 points from three A levels including mathematics and a Science based subject (three ‘C’ grades or equivalent) • Extended Diploma or National Extended Diploma in Engineering or a related subject with a Merit, Merit, Merit profile
  • Is a Driving Licence essential? No

Description

This role is to learn about, and support, the site in the attainment of world class performance through the application of Lean tools to drive forward:

  • the lean enterprise culture supporting the “Parker Lean System”
  • strategic goals across the division aligned to the “Win Strategy”
  • operational excellence in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Engagement
  • “Simple By Design” (SBD) into the business processes.
  • Support site-based Kaizen and Automation projects, get involved in HPTs and work with the site on a day-to-day basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support lean activities across the Ansty Park site manufacturing location involving the organisation and execution of Kaizen events, report-outs and presentation of progress and outcomes etc
  • Introduce, embed and grow the Parker Lean System across the location in the manufacturing operations and support functions.
  • Support key projects aligned to the site Strategy Deployment Annual Improvement Priorities (SD-AIPs) to drive business process improvement and enhance Parker customer experience.
  • Support the Site Lean Manager and Lean Leaders in the training and development of Lean skills to personnel at all levels in the business including Lean Boot Camps (LBCs).
  • Support the coaching and development of staff in the correct application of the Parker Lean System tools and methods across the site and division.
  • Support the Facilitation of Parker Problem Solving activities within the site Value Streams and non-manufacturing functions.
  • Actively engage with business functions to embed SBD as a business process ensuring that SBD activity is correctly focused and driven.
  • As part of the SBD processes, support projects on product simplification

Working Arrangements

Role is based primarily at the Ansty Park (Coventry) facility but some localised travel to the CVD (Coventry) and Test House (Birmingham) facilities will be required.

The role is based in an active shopfloor environment with the rest of the Lean Team so willingness to participate hands-on and provide support will be a daily part of the role. Mon - Thurs 8am-4.30pm, Fri - 8am-3.30pm.

Apprentice salaries increase annually with experience and are reviewed each September, depending on individual performance. Apprentices are also included in Parker Meggitt's bonus scheme, receiving a minimum of 2.5%, which may increase depending on overall company performance.

Training provided

Alongside your day role, you will work to complete your apprenticeship with your external training provider. This will give you the knowledge, training and external approval to do your job effectively.

Upon successful completion of the programme — and subject to performance — you may have the opportunity to move into a permanent role within the team or business area where you completed your apprenticeship.

Other requirements

In order to apply, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old when the apprenticeship begins.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have been a UK/EU/EAA resident for at least the past three years prior to starting the apprenticeship.
  • Have completed full-time education before the apprenticeship is due to start. For this programme, you must be able to achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) clearance.
