Job Description

Digital Energy Technical Degree Apprenticeship (Power) - Chippenham

Role Mission:

As a Technical Apprentice in Digital Power, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping the future of energy. This is your chance to work with cutting-edge technologies that power smart electrical infrastructure and drive sustainability.

You’ll play a key role in designing and implementing innovative digital solutions that make energy systems more efficient, reliable, and future-ready. From optimising power distribution to supporting the transition to greener energy, your work will have a real impact.

Join a dynamic team of experts, learn from industry leaders, and gain hands-on experience on projects that matter. If you’re passionate about technology, sustainability, and making a difference, this is the perfect opportunity to launch your career in a fast-growing field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the design and implementation of digital power systems and smart electrical infrastructure.
  • Supporting the integration of advanced technologies for energy efficiency and sustainability.
  • Collaborating with engineers and technical specialists on real-world projects.
  • Learning to use industry-leading software and tools for power management and monitoring.
  • Helping troubleshoot and optimize electrical systems to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Contributing to innovative solutions that enable customers to transition to greener energy.

Training:

During your apprenticeship, you will receive two different types of training.

‘On-the-job’ training will be delivered by Schneider Electric, as your employer. You’ll receive training and supervision to help you perform the job you’ve been hired to do. This will include skills and knowledge that fall outside of the apprenticeship but are needed for the job role. As well as providing ‘on-the-job’ training, it is important that we support you in additional ways to ensure your success.

Types of support will include:

  • A comprehensive induction
  • Mentoring or regular one-to-one guidance
  • Social enrichment and networking opportunities
  • Performance reviews
  • Mental health and wellbeing support
  • Feedback opportunities

‘Off-the-job’ training is delivered by one of our carefully selected Training Providers during your normal working hours. You will spend at least 20% (average 6 hours per week) of your working hours completing ‘off-the-job’ training. This is protected time and is a requirement for apprenticeship delivery. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills, and behaviours set out in the apprenticeship standard so you can achieve occupational competence.

Work Pattern

37.5 hours per week to be worked from Monday to Friday.

Exact start and finish times are to be agreed upon with Line Manager. Some of these hours will be allocated to off-the-job training as part of your Apprenticeship Programme.
