Job Description
Metallics Level 3 Apprenticeship
Metallics manufacturing sits at the heart of high-precision engineering, where you make real impact on race-winning performance. Using advanced machining and programming expertise, the team turns complex designs into reality - from full-size car components to 60% wind tunnel models, jigs, fixtures, and even Heritage parts. This is where problem-solving meets cutting-edge technology to deliver parts that meet the toughest standards in motorsport.
As a Metallics Machinist Apprentice, you will embark on a structured rotational program designed to develop your technical skills and knowledge in all aspects of machining. Working within both our bespoke Engineering training facility and our world-class manufacturing departments. You will gain hands-on experience of machining, inspection and design while learning industry standards and best practices. Alongside practical training, you will attend college one day per week to achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the production of high-performance F1 components, supported by experienced mentors, enabling you to build a foundation for a successful career in motorsport engineering.
Shape the Future
- You are expected to actively identify ways to continuously improve department and personal performance. You should use the ongoing structured support, including regular performance evaluations, to aid your professional and personal development
- You possess a keen attention to detail and have a strong bias towards practical working. You are expected to ask questions and check in the first instance if unsure, never assuming.
- Possess the ability to stay calm and organised in dynamic, high-performance environments, always ensuring safety and compliance.
- You encourage positive relationships with other departments, driving a spirit of teamwork and continuous improvement. You are polite, professional, and communicate calmly and constructively
Make Real Impact
- Gain knowledge and become competent in a wide range of disciplines including CNC Turning/Milling, Offline CAM Programming, Interpreting Engineering drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- You will be involved in secondments to the Metallics Inspection, Pattern Shop Machining, and the Design office, giving you insight into how F1 components are developed from concept to reality.
- You will ensure you are aware of and comply with all health and safety obligations, including risk assessments and enforcing the wearing of PPE, ensuring timely reporting of any incidents or near misses.
Find Your Place
- You have good communication, organisational skills, and a keen interest in engineering.
- You ideally will have 5 GCSEs grade 4 (C) or above
- Candidates with A-Levels or a BTEC in engineering/motorsport, or relevant hobby/project experience (e.g., karting, automotive repair, model engineering) are encouraged to apply.
- You will graduate with a Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Fitter Standard.
