Project Management Summer Internship - Cheshire

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Project Management Summer Intern based in Cheshire

Salary: £12.39

Location: Preston Brook Depot A56 Chester Road Preston Brook WA7 3AT

Working hours per week: Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00. 37.5hrs/week

Start date: July 2026

During your 8-week internship at Amey, you'll be challenged and inspired to reach your full potential while working in a dynamic and stimulating environment. You will gain valuable insight into life at Amey, with the opportunity to apply for our Graduate Programme upon completing your academic studies

Amey has been working in partnership with Highways England, to provide maintenance and response services for more than 300 miles of strategic road network in the Northwest, connecting the cities of Manchester, Liverpool and the surrounding areas.

Responsible for incident response, winter maintenance services, and severe weather delivery, the teams will oversee traffic management during incidents on some of the region’s busiest motorways: the M6, M56 and M62.

What you will do:

  • Development of organisational skills assisting in the update of records, accurate filing, and data entry, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Assist in the development and publishing of business communications, learning about corporate styles and software used.
  • Understand how the different elements of Amey’s business provide support to each other.
  • Develop your understanding of the requirements of Health and Safety in the workplace. Learn what you must do to stay safe and what you must do to keep others safe.

What you will bring:

  • Working towards achieving a minimum 2:2 Project Management degree
  • Full UK driver’s license (desirable)
  • DBS requirement
  • Computer literate and conversant with MS Office suite, including Teams, Yammer, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing, spoken word, sketches, calculations, etc.
  • A keen interest in construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
