Job Description

Reliability and Engineering Process Industrial Placement

Build your skills. Make an impact. Race towards excellence.

Every dream needs a team.

Join the Reliability Department as we take on the challenge of Formula One’s exciting new era of sustainable technical regulations.

By spending your year in industry with us, you will:

  • Apply your learning in one of the most technically demanding global sports
  • Take on responsibility as you are supported and trained throughout your year
  • Join us for a year-long placement from the end of June 2026 to the end of July 2027
  • Work in a fast-paced environment at our state-of-the-art factory in Brackley, United Kingdom
  • Be an integral part of a cohort of students working across all functions of our team

As an Industrial Placement in Reliability and Engineering Process:

To finish first, you must first finish. Reliability and Engineering Process sit at the heart of our team, ensuring our cars perform at their peak while finishing every race. They also drive our engineering capabilities forward — identifying opportunities to accelerate car development and deliver updates to the car faster.

This is a unique opportunity, offering exposure to the complete F1 car lifecycle — from concept to racing — whilst involving you in projects across the entire car.

You’ll be directly involved from day one, working on real engineering challenges and evolving the capabilities and processes that keep our cars competitive.

Collaborating with engineers and technicians across Design, Build, R&D, and the Race Team, you’ll tackle real-world problems. Many of your projects will be responses to on-track reliability issues, giving you exposure to a wide range of technical topics and deepening your understanding of F1 car systems.

Your work will span:

  • Supporting the Trackside Reliability group, getting hands-on with car parts
  • Resolving reliability issues and preventing future failures
  • Designing components and assemblies, supporting the Design Office
  • Exploring new technologies and developing our capabilities
  • Creating and developing bespoke digital tools
  • Optimising engineering and operational processes

Successful candidates will:

  • Be currently studying for a degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics etc)
  • Have at least one year remaining on your current course or be enrolled on your next course* from the point at which you start your placement with us (Please note that if you will be enrolled on a Masters or PhD course you will need to be able to evidence enrolment to confirm eligibility)
  • Have a good understanding of fundamental engineering principles
  • Possess strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Have relentless curiosity and a proactive approach to learning
  • Show determination and resilience when facing challenges
  • Have keen attention to detail
  • Possess an analytical and inquisitive approach
  • Relish challenges and enjoy pushing for continuous improvement

Additional desirable criteria:

  • Knowledge of CAD software such as CATIA/3DX, NX, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform such as: Power Automate, PowerApps, Power BI, Dataverse
  • Experience in the use of modern programming languages (VBA, python, etc)
  • Previous hands-on engineering experience (not restricted to motorsport)

Future careers:

Previous students who joined us in this role have gone on to F1 careers in roles such as:

  • Trackside Reliability
  • Mechanical Design
  • Composite Design
  • Powertrain Integration Design
  • Design Process Engineering

Benefits:

When you put the effort in, we give it back.

Start with a competitive salary, a generous joining bonus, add in a world-class wellbeing programme (including a free on-site gym), delicious subsidised food, and private medical cover - all on our riverside campus powered by 100% renewable energy. You’ll have everything you need to thrive both inside and outside of work.
