Marketing Assistant Placement

Primary Purpose of the Job

Reporting into the Marketing Manager - Demand Generation, this role is to support all areas of the Fleet Development/Marketing team to help achieve their objectives. This placement offers an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate student to gain hands-on experience in B2B marketing within the Fleet division at Volkswagen Financial Services.

The role is diverse works across a range of marketing areas - from digital campaigns and event planning to product launches and customer insights - helping the team deliver impactful marketing activity that supports business growth.

Main Responsibilities

Insight & Campaigns

  • Conduct customer, market and competitor research to support sales and marketing strategy.
  • Provide insight-driven recommendations for campaign opportunities and market positioning.
  • Support the development of data-led campaigns based on customer and industry trends.

Product Marketing

  • Assist with go-to-market planning for product launches and updates.
  • Contribute to proposition development to differentiate the VWFS Fleet offering.
  • Support the Product team with internal and external communications related to product changes.

Marketing Communication

  • Help create sales enablement content such as pitch decks, fact sheets, personas, and case studies.
  • Support campaign delivery across digital and offline channels, including email, SEO, PPC, paid social, display, and trade advertising.
  • Execute tactical email marketing in line with the fleet marketing calendar.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving digital content across fleet websites.
  • Help coordinate internal and external events, including logistics and agency management.

Customer Relationship Management (Salesforce & Pardot)

  • Support essential marketing operations initiatives in Pardot and Salesforce such as managing the lead lifecycle, lead scoring
  • Manage required periodic data load activities (SME rate books, Customer Portal data)
  • Monitoring of database and conducting data integrity activities.
  • Produce key marketing reporting and insights through the development of new reports and dashboards based on informed requirements

Team and Operational Support

  • Support the Marketing Manager - Demand Generation with managing the budget, by raising POs and tracking invoices.
  • Progress with the production, delivery and stock management of branded merchandise in line with CI guidelines
  • Agency management - provide availability and updates to agencies
  • Team support – diary availability, room booking, co-ordinate and track our key initiatives of marketing activities, supplier management.

The fleet marketing team are office based and you will work closely with all of them as part of the team, supporting with objectives and key initiatives. Upwards management will be required including setting realistic completion dates/times and the confidence to have challenging conversations when needing to push-back/prioritise.

  • All New Business Sales Managers
  • New Business/Existing Business/Volume Channel National Sales Managers
  • Head of Sales & Marketing
  • General Manager – Brand & Fleet Solutions
  • SME team (including Sales Executive Undergraduate)
  • Bids & Tenders team
  • Fleet Personal Assistant

The wider sales team (approx. 40 people) are mostly non-office based – excluding the SME team – and infrequently visit the office. Your interaction will mostly be through email or call with 3 x yearly conferences with the full team. Your line manager will help you manage requests from the wider team.

Regular interactions with the following:

Wider Fleet department

  • Based within the Brunswick Court office the wider fleet department consist of varied teams including Sales Support, Pricing, Accounting and Reporting. Though not directly part of the Sales & Marketing team interactions and good rapport is required. No job requests should be received from these teams.

Decision Making Scope

  • Creation and improvement of efficient and effective processes, reports and analysis
  • Fleet and Undergraduate projects
  • Approving invoices that match PO values
  • Artwork sign-off and thoughts and ideas on concepts
  • Deciding which vehicle rates are most competitive and should be campaigned

Education, Training and Experience

  • Studying towards a Business or related degree
  • Demonstrable research and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to manage relationships up to Head of level
  • Strong numerical skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage with a large and broad skill based team
  • Excel (advanced level), Word and PowerPoint (intermediate)
  • An interest in the automotive and leasing sector
  • An interest in marketing & events
