Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
kpmg 360 programme allows apprenticesices to rotate around different departments to gain experience. (AUDIT, TAX, ADVISORY DEPARTMENTS.). i have chosen to specialise in financial services audit where i work on investment funds. other things you can work on in FS audit included banking, pension audits, CASS audits, amoung other thigns.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I enjoy my progreamme. It isnt really 460 as i was onlyreally given the chance to try out audit which was disappointing. But it is a great alternative to uni as you are paid while completeing your qualifications. Pre covid there was also lots of opportunities to travel around uk.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have greatly developed my communication and teamworking skills. Working with sucha diverse workforce and cliengts really supports this. with offices all over the world, we often work with indian offices so it is great to learn skills and techniqiues off of so many different people with so mcuh experience!

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
It is well structured. We start with aat level 3 then aat level 4, beofre completeing our chartership which in scotland is ICAS. so it is 6 years in total but i believe there is also a 5 year option if you wish to fastrack. (it COULD BE BETTER ORGANISED AS EXAMS ETC ARE ALWAYS LAST MIN
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
employer pays for exams and 1 resit. there has been many cases of individualas being handed their notice after failing exams which is ofcourse a worry. There could be more support for learning within the department (as we dnt have uni knowledge coming into the job). but overall very good
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
ICAS are usually quite slow but very responsive. AAT were also very slow and not responsive which was qwuite difficult. More in class training would be beneficial but there is now a spit between in class and at home learning post covid - this has been okay for me however s
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
This provides us with the necessary expertise however working in audit i feel there culd be more of an audit focus, AAT does not really touch on aufit if i can remember correctly and there are 2 icas exams which do. If i were in a purely accouting role i feel its more related
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are often drinks sOCIAL EVENTS. KPMG also have an annual ball and annual away teams for thigns liek teambuilig. Sports teams and extra curriculuar isnt mcuh of a thing here in scotland but from seeing communicatiosn from the london office, i believe there is lots of opportunities on offer

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is good to get experience with a big 4 compnay. alothoguh long hours no overtime pay etc can be a common complaint. However i belive working i this compay will equip me well fr the rest f my career so i would recommend to anyone reading this to join
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
be yourself! values are very important at kpmg so demonstatre how you can show these in your interview. Be curious and open to any opportunities that come your way and be open to expanding your network as muhc as possible. Internships seem to be an easier entry route s perhaps consider
