Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was given a fair amount of responsibility during my placement given that I was a placement student. Directly communicating with brands and managing their accounts including their advertising campaigns.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Developed analytical skills using Excel and R. I learned how to do a bit of coding as well as how to market and advertise products online. Additionally, how to communicate with clients of varying sizes.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
It is very friendly and relaxed, as the company is comprised of a relatively small and young team. Nevertheless you are expected to deliver good work and be proactive in contributing to the success of the company. There are opportunities to assume more responsibility if you seek it and demonstrate that you are capable, which I think is good.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed it because I was able to learn a lot and assume a lot of responsibility. The team is very kind and helpful which was great. The only parts I did not enjoy was the lack of social interaction, as the work is hybrid, but most people work fully remote. However, this was also a positive aspect of the placement as it meant I could work while travelling.

What advice would you give to others applying to This Way Up
I was quite unsure about what I wanted to do for my placement and this role was great because I got to do a variety of different tasks and work with brands of different sizes. If you feel similarly as well then I would recommend that you apply and simply be yourself. The recruitment process is much more relaxed than at other places, they just want to see if you would be a good fit.
