Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
At a high level the role revolves around:
1. Understanding internally about the products JPM security services offers to Asset owners and asset managers. JPM does a very good job of exposing you to exactly how business is done, what are the key processes involved etc. and you get very high amount of exposure to all teams.
2. How do you deliver these services in the most effective way possible: so this is where a SA helps the team the most- figuring out efficiencies that would help improve the service delivery or improve the teams ability to output better models and deals.
The first point is fairly straight forward but the 2nd point, based on your abilities the manager figures out in the first few weeks, you will get more deal exposure, and understand more about how the products are developed, priced, negotiated etc.
You have the choice to show interest in what you like and depending on your skills the managers are more than open to give you more exposure to those parts.
I wont say you have a lot of BaU tasks since the product team is more strategy and long term.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was also given additional responsibilities that involved me interacting with EDs and VPs on a daily basis that helped me get a lot of face time with senior management.
Please rate how meaningful the work you were doing was
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Additionally, you also have the oppurtuntiy to develope your skills in tools like Alteryx, Tableau, UI Path, VBA and even some coding depending on which desk you are on and what your team does.
I did a lot of modeling using Excel and Alteryx as well and learnt a lot about fund structures and how they are formed in different jurisdictions for various reasons. I had prior knowledge about this but actually seeing how complex they really are was another thing.
There is also the JPM University available which you can pretty much learn anything off of. You have access to every course released by JPM.
Additionally, there are also seminars on PPTs and Excel that you can join that helpd you further advance your skills.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Furthermore, everyone on my team were more than helpful. i could always ask any question i needed to calrify and was always asked if i had capacity if something additional was needed to be done.
There are constant check ins with the program managers to help get feedback at both ends and overall the environment was more than enriching and supportive. One of the best internships ive had!

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Lot of senior speaker series that you can learn from, networking events you can meet other interns and analysts at.
And, you also have a free pass to schedule a meeting with anyone, ofcourse if you wanna learn something from them or understand their role.
Additionally, if you take the initiative the firm is more than accommodating in giving you additional responsibilities which shows they don't just treat you as an intern and are willing to let you take lead on things you are passionate about !

Recommendations & Advice
Would you recommend J.P. Morgan to a friend?
What advice would you give to others applying to J.P. Morgan
Having a very strong know how of what's happening in the markets is a given. But, adidtionally knowing what the impact of event X might be on a particular desk or product is even more important than being an encyclopedia of market events. Understand the big picture and how your desk is impacted by even and bring ideas.
As an analyst you are rewarded for being creative and bringing new ideas to the table. so even during an interview bringing this side of yourself would be a plus.
Have a hobbie you are very very enthusiastic about, everyone in the intern class played some sport or did something at a very high level apart from being very good at academics. it shows you are just not good at one thing.
Learn excel like its your bible : )
