Intern Review

My role in particular sat with a specific team in LGIMRA. I assisted staff members with their day-to-day roles, and was given tasks such as updating data, putting together presentations and writing reports. This is alongside an 8 week intern project, where you in a group of other interns are asked to investigate a specific company or sector and pitch a buy/sell recommendation to a panel of judges.

I felt like I was. Not every task is of super high importance, but there were certain tasks that felt like a lot of responsibility. Also, the first few weeks are naturally going to contain less 'important' tasks as you're learning to settle in.

You learn so much about the asset management industry, in particular a lot about property in LGIMRA. The company is generally very friendly and you can ask to speak to others outside of your team, as well as shadow other people if you wish.
The internship also contained lots of talks about different business areas, so there was always something to learn.

A lot. My manager was very supportive and helped me to reach out to other teams, the rest of my team was always willing to answer questions I had. I also had a mentor from another floor who regularly checked in on me, and the induction at the beginning mean the interns were also quite friendly with each other.

So friendly. It was very relaxed, the working hours were incredibly reasonable (pretty much 9-5 every day), and there was no-one that you couldn't really approach.

I had a great time. It was definitely a good learning experience, but also it was super enjoyable and I looked forward to coming to work every day.
