Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I am a Cloud Engineer, working both in the Microsoft Azure Portal, as well as building infrastructure using code, mostly in Terraform. I work to ensure core services remain up and working.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I have enjoyed my programme thoroughly. Being a large financial company however, this has come with some challenges such as being able to find available people to teach me new skills.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, multiple skills such as what Infrastructure as code is, networking, physical computer components, and how to use GitHub, Terraform, and PowerShell.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
My line-manager was incredible and gave me a lot of time and opportunity to learn new skills. However the team generally were very busy, and it was hard to find the opportunities to learn new things for well-roundly from different members.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Loads of support, my managers have been great.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My training Provider QA, and specifically my DLC Dan Brown was exceptional and provided support throughout.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I would say my qualification has helped me learn fundamental networking skills that is essential for building infrastructure. As well as given be a key insight into Azure and Microsoft products as a whole.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, we have sports clubs, video game clubs, and multiple networking events that we can attend every year and throughout the year.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Legal & General to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because Legal and General are great for diversity, acceptance, and easing you into your role. For a large company, there is a lot of work, but also a lot of support.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Legal & General?
The company is great to work for, however there is a lot to learn and quite different when you're used to working for a smaller company. The only thing I would say is structure for IT related apprenticeships may differ with team structures, with more support being given for different teams.
