Business Administration Apprentice

We spoke to Amy, a Business Administration Apprentice at Virgin Media O2 and she told us a little bit about her journey into the business, why she chose an apprenticeship and what the best bit about her role is. Here’s what she had to say...

Could you tell us a little more about yourself and the role you’re currently in?

I’m 19 years old and am currently nearing the end of my Business Administration Apprenticeship. I sit within the Demand and Risk Management Team. I mainly support my Team with Forecasting, Development of the Project Database, and have more recently conducted a range of work involving Jira.

Why did you choose an apprenticeship at Virgin Media O2?

University didn’t appeal to me as I knew I would like to gain experience in a working environment as well as continuing to learn. I also liked the idea of earning a working wage and being able to develop job-based, transferrable skills.

Initially, I wanted to go into the police, so all of my A-Levels were chosen to cater for that. However, upon completing my A-Levels, I decided to look for an apprenticeship at Virgin Media O2 after attending a talk with some individuals from the business explaining the benefits of undertaking an apprenticeship at Virgin Media O2. This session was eye-opening for me and, after gaining an understanding of the benefits, I decided to apply.

What is the best thing about the role you’re currently in?

The support I receive from my team. Everyone is so kind and is always eager to support me when I need it. The team are always willing to help me develop my skills, to ensure I can carry out my job role to the highest standard. This role has helped me grow my confidence and improve my communication skills, which are qualities that will be beneficial as I continue in my career.
